San Marino Civil Flag

San Marino Civil Flag

Blue is a symbol of liberty and recalls the sky, while white stands for peace and represents the snow on Mount Titano and the clouds above it. These traditional colours were chosen in 1797; the flag in its present form dates from 6 April 1862. The civil flag does not feature the arms with the three white towers on a blue field, the origin of the flag's colours.
